5th Lucerne Nerve and Muscle Ultrasound Teaching Course

As with our previous teaching courses, Prof Einar Wilder Smith, Kantonsspital Lucerne, Switzerland, University Medical Centre, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University Singapore and PD Dr. Alexander Grimm (DEGUM instructor), senior consultant, University of Tübingen, as well as our local anaesthesist senior consultant Dr. David Lorenzana (SGUM instructor) and senior consultant Dr. Anne-Kathrin Peyer will guide you through the rapidly evolving application of ultrasound in neuromuscular disorders.

This year, we will start off with lectures on basic and advanced anatomy (including live demos) before covering lectures on nerve entrapments, dysimmune and hereditary neuropathies and the application of muscle ultrasound in neuromuscular diseases. We are happy to welcome as guest speakers Dr. Maria Teresa Pedro, University of Ulm, Günzburg, on intraoperative high resolution ultrasound, Dr. Michael Ho, Neuroradiology University Hospital Zurich, on the value of MR Neurography and Dr. Giorgio Tamborrini-Schütz, Rheumatologist and US specialist Basel (SGUM instructor), on the rheumatologist’s perspective of ultrasound.

We welcome all interested neurologists (resident or specialist), neuropediatricians, radiologists, anesthetists and peripheral nerve surgeons etc. to participate at the course. Emphasis is on practical teaching lessons studying normal and pathological findings (invited patients).

The number of participants is limited to 20 participants in order to ensure a high learning effect (4 participants per unit and teacher).
